Makena's First Dance Recital

Makena had her very first dance recital on Wednesday night! The theme was "Color Me Dancing" and most of the songs were about colors. They didn't allow flash photography during the recital so I took a few pictures at her dress rehearsal on Tuesday. We took a few pictures in her tap costume before we left home. She came up with all of these poses on her own. :)
And here are the pictures from dress rehearsal. My dad came to watch Megan and Everett since the rehearsal was 2 1/2 hours long. I knew those two wouldn't sit still that long. She looked so cute up on that big stage!
I LOVE this picture!
Their ballet performance was to the song, "Flavors of the Raindrops." Here she is "standing outside with her mouth open wide....ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah."
This is a shot of Makena's whole class. Makena is the last one on the right on the front row.
I could see her peeking out behind the curtain before she started her tap routine. I think she saw me, too. :)
Their tap performance was to the song, "Purple People Eaters." Makena's friend Avery is in front of her.
  Shake it girl!
I was told the recital would last around 3 hours so I got a sitter for Megan and Everett. I also made Makena take a nap since she isn't used to staying up that late. She did such a good job at the recital! And she was so cute! She got to go out for her ballet and tap performances and then again at the end with all of the dancers to take a bow. She really liked getting to take a bow with the other dancers. I was wondering how they were able to keep them all occupied backstage. Makena said they got to color and play Simon says. They got a snack and drink and got to watch part of a movie. Here she is after her big show! She caught a balloon at the end of the recital and I got her a dozen pink roses.
 Here she is with Popaw
 And with Mom.
 Shot #2 with Mom.
G-Dada came to the recital, too, but with his back problems he couldn't sit for the whole recital. Phil was out of town at a meeting in Chicago. I bought the video so he can watch the recital later. I know he hated to miss it.

  1. Makena is such a graceful and lovel dancer. Her grandmother took ballet at about her age, and I took tap. Iloved it, but the recital scared me so bad that when the teacher said she wouldn't exempt me from future recitals, I quit. I admire our Makena! She looks like she relished all of it. Bravo!
