Mother's Day

We had a great Mother's Day! Makena and Megan made me some adorable gifts at preschool.
Megan made a cute tissue paper flower. The flower was a in a little terracotta pot and her teacher had written on it: Happy Mother's Day! Love, Megan 2009. The flower was also a pin that you could take off of the "plant" and wear as a corsage. I wore it to church on Sunday.

Makena made a couple of things. The first thing was a teapot that had a bag of tea inside. The quote on the teapot read, "Here's a gift for Mother's Day, I'll try my best in every way. But when you get upset with me, relax and have a cup of tea!"

She also gave me a painting. The painting came with this poem:
"Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls.

But everyday I'm growing.
I'll be grown up someday
And all those tiny handprints
Will surely fade away.

So here's a tiny handprint
Just so you can recall
Exactly how my fingers looked
When I was very small."

Me and my girls on Mother's Day
Unfortunately, Phil was moonlighting on Sunday. But we were able to drive up to Wilkesboro, where he was working, and have dinner with him and Popaw. Phil helped the girls make cards on Saturday before he had to go to work. My gift from Phil and the girls is a new purse/diaper bag, which is on the way. I had a great Mother's Day with my girls. I have so much fun being Makena and Megan's mommy!

The Golden Knights vs. The Tigers

Today, Makena's Golden Knights played the Tigers. It was a great day to be outdoors! We were lucky to have all of the grandparents there cheering her on.
This is Megan hanging out with Popaw.

Having a snack while watching the game.

Everyone gathered in the middle of the field for the post-game meeting.
Makena was so excited to get a soccer patch! They give out patches to two kids each week and she has waited very patiently for hers. :) The patches are supposed to symbolize good sportsmanship.
Showing off her patch.
Makena with her teammates, Carly and Joiner.

Makena had some friends on the other team. This is Makena with her friend, Owen.
Makena and Owen with Owen's little brother, Wyatt and Megan.
More Tigers Friends: Conner, Owen, Reed and Makena. Everyone was enjoying their snack after the game.

Makena has one more practice on Thursday, but other than that, soccer is over for the season. We have really enjoyed watching her play. And she was lucky to have her grandparents and her Uncle Zane come watch her play this season. This was her first time playing on a team and it was so cute to watch. We will let her decide if she wants to play soccer again or if she would rather try something else. She did a great job and had a lot of fun playing with her friends.

Strawberry Picking

We used Makena's "sick day" to go pick strawberries. We have been wanting to go for a couple of weeks but the rain has put a damper on all of our outdoor plans. It was a little muddy but that didn't stop us! Megan figured out what to do pretty fast. Although, she didn't care what kind of strawberries she put in her basket.....they could be red, green or half rotten, she didn't care. Makena picked a few strawberries and then decided she would rather talk about picking strawberries than actually pick them. Quite the talker, that one.

Picking another green one....

Can you guess which basket Megan picked?

This is what I get when I ask them to pose together....Makena puts Megan in a headlock.

A Rough Night

Usually after Megan goes to bed, we let Makena watch cartoons for a little bit. She was in our bed watching a show while Phil worked on a power point and I folded laundry. I went to check on her and found her asleep in the floor of our room. I thought it was funny so I took a picture. I picked her up to put her in the bed and she started throwing up before I had her laid down. She got sick 3 or 4 times that night and we had to change her clothes and our sheets every time. She finally went to sleep and woke up feeling fine. We're thinking it was probably just something she ate because she didn't have a fever and felt better the next morning. I kept her out of preschool this morning just to be safe. We're so glad she is feeling better!

Cinco de Mayo pee-pee

Megan peed in the potty for the first time tonight! She seems a little young (almost 18 months) but Makena was about the same age when she first went. I'm sure it will take a while until she is completely potty trained....Makena is 3 and we're still working with her. But it is a HUGE step! I didn't get a picture of her when she was actually going potty. The picture below is a reenactment. :) Maybe this will create a little peer pressure so we can get both girls potty trained! Yay Megan!

Lunch with the Uncles

We've gotten to hang out with Phil's brothers Lee and Zane this past weekend. They're leaving tomorrow, so Phil snuck out of work and we all went and had lunch together. Makena and Megan LOVE their uncles!

Come back soon!

This Past Week

This is a picture of Phil and I from this weekend. One of Phil's college friends was in town and we had a fun adult night out. I apologize to the Cartwrights and Slade for cropping you out.

This is the whole gang at Nobles.
This week I took Makena and Megan to Cash Lovell Stables to see some horses. Makena got to brush a horse, feed it a peppermint and ride on a different horse. Megan wasn't very interested in brushing or feeding the horse. She did sit on the horse, but I wasn't able to get a picture because I had to stay right there with her.

Makena had her fourth soccer game this Saturday. She played goalie and did an awesome job! Usually she just chases the kids who are kicking the ball or picks dandelions on the field. We were so proud of her. She only has one more soccer game and we hope she will get to play goalie again since she really seemed to enjoy it. I think she liked it because the coaches told her it was okay to touch the ball with her hands. :)

This is Makena and her buddy, Adam. Makena's team, the Golden Knights, played Adam's Barracudas on Saturday. Before the game, we told Makena that her team was going to be playing Adam's team but she didn't get to see him before the game. While she was playing, she stopped on the field and yelled, "Mommy, I found Adam!" It was so cute. It was the most aggressive game that either of our teams had seen, considering these are three and four year olds.
And this is our little munchkin, Megan. Both of the girls love to play dress up. This is one of the many outfits she wore during this dress up session. This is Megan wearing Makena's Cinderella nightgown and one of the crowns from Makena's birthday party.
