Halloween Part One

The kids had a lot of fun this Halloween! The big three had Halloween parties at school and we also went to one in our neighborhood.
Our neighborhood has a tradition where the neighbors will "BOO" each other. They'll put together a bag of Halloween goodies and leave it on some one's porch, ring the doorbell and run and get out of sight. You enclose a note that says,"You've been BOO'd!" along with instructions on what you do next. Then you have to copy the note and go "BOO" two other houses. The girls LOVE this! Once some one's been to your house you're supposed to put the note in the window so you don't get hit again. Somehow we got "BOO'd' twice so we had to do four houses. The girls wanted to go to their friends houses, of course. Here is Megan running down the hill after "Boo-ing" her friend, Maisie.
We took Finley to Hawk's Pumpkin Patch for the first time!
The kids and I also made jack-o-lanterns. I always made them with my dad when I was little so I don't think it would seem right if we didn't make at least one! Makena and Megan each chose their pattern but Everett was satisfied with his "Woody pumpkin."
Everett kept wanting to carry the pieces to the "Woody pumpkin" around and we temporarily lost one of his arms. Makena said, "Mom! It's just like Toy Story 2!" If you haven't seen the movie, Woody temporarily loses in arm in it, as well. :)

I did the carving but the girls helped scoop the seeds out.
Megan chose a cute pattern of a cat coming out of a jack-o-lantern.
Makena chose a creepy pattern called, "lawn of the dead." You see the hand reaching up? Yuck!
None of the kids wore costumes to school on Halloween but Makena decided to wear her cat ear hairband with her leopard pants.
Our friends, the Deibler's, have a big Halloween party every year for adults. Lindsay loves Halloween and has a ton of decorations. There is always some reason we were not able to go. At the last minute we decided to try to make it happen so Phil went to the Halloween store to get us some costumes. We heard some people say they started thinking about their costume at the last Halloween party so we really need to step it up next year. This was the first time we had left Finley and only left her for a couple of hours with Phil's dad and Pat. There were some awesome costumes and I should have taken more pictures.

Here is Phil with Sarah
And Phil with his buddy, Dad a.k.a Gene Simmons
And here are Phil and I together. In case you don't watch Nick Jr., we are DJ Lance and Brobee from Yo Gabba Gabba! All I can say is, at least my costume was warm. There were some Spice Girls and other scantily clad folks who looked pretty cold. :)
