Last week, Makena went to an art camp at the Sawtooth School for Visual Art. She had so much fun! They did some really neat art projects. We'll definitely be looking for more camps and classes at Sawtooth. I highly recommend Sawtooth camps! One day the Humane Society brought dogs for the kids to see and pet. On Friday, they displayed the artwork they had made in an art show for the parents to see.
This camp was all about animals. In this picture of fish Makena used patterns.
The kids did cat and dog paintings with watercolor backgrounds. Makena chose a cat. :)
They also used play clay to create animals. Makena made a bunny.
They used textures and rubbings to create these pictures. They walked around the building rubbing bricks, leaves and other things to get different looks. The branch the parrot is sitting on is made out of pieces of fabric with different textures.
They had a live model for this drawing! The kids got to play with Jack before drawing his portrait. This was the only piece of artwork the kids didn't get to bring home. Sawtooth donated these drawings to the Forsyth Humane Society. They're going to turn them into stationary to raise money. If you look in the upper left corner of the paper you'll see KCAJ. Makena had obviously tried to copy "Jack" from someone's paper and written it backward. Don't you love this age!
Some of Makena's preschool friends were also at this camp. The girls had so much fun being together. It was sometimes hard to get them to leave each other after camp. :)
They made these cute animal t-shirts, too!
Megan, Everett and I tried to stay busy while Makena was at camp. We ran errands and went to the gym, park and children's museum. Everett LOVES the children's museum right now and Megan still likes it, too. They had so much fun playing. They loved the sandbox and water tables they had set up outside.
