The Moore the Merrier

So I need to catch up on the blog. About a week ago, all of the Moore brothers and their families were in town. It was great to get to see everyone. We're rarely all together at the same time.....it had been a year since we had all been under one roof. Makena and Megan loved playing with their cousins. It didn't matter how long it had been since we had seen them, they were all over them as soon as we went in the door. Here is a pic of Granddad with all of the grandkids, except Mallorie, who had just left to go back to NC State: Will, Amanda, Madison, Ian, Makena, Collin, Courtney and Megan (who was just dying to get down). The Moore Men: Larry, Phil, Laurie, Zane, Lee, Lane, Lindsey
The Women: Mindy, Pat, Deedee, Amy, Shannon and Me Makena and Madison playing Polly Pockets Megan and her BFF Courtney

WFU Fan Fest

This weekend Wake Forest University had their annual Fan Fest. The event is held at BB&T Field and fans get to walk around and get autographs and pictures with the Fall athletes. We were mostly interested in the football players, as were most of the other people there. :) They had big bounce houses for the kids and a clown making balloon animals. And it was just fun to get to walk around on the football field. The girls were trying to figure out what was wrong with the grass. It felt funny, looked funny and had little rubber pieces all in it. They liked walking barefoot on the AstroTurf.

Go Deacs!
Megan was scared of the Deacon for some reason. She's usually fearless. This is as close as she would get.
Touchdown Makena!!!
Waiting for the football players to come out...

Here comes the Deacon!

Megan wasn't sure what to think at first.

Here come the football players!
Megan got at least a dozen high fives! It was so cute! When she noticed what everyone else was doing and stuck her hand out, too. The players were great and made a real effort to come down to her level, even when she didn't have her hand out all the way.

There was a live band this year. Megan had to bust a move.
Water break! It was so hot!

We absolutely had to get a picture of Megan with Wake's quarterback, Riley Skinner, this year. We were at the Wake Forest/Carolina game a couple of years ago when I was pregnant with Megan. We couldn't decide on a middle name for her so being the big Demon Deacon fans that we are, we decided on Riley after the quarterback, Riley Skinner. The Deacon's went on to win that game so we knew we were making the right choice. :) Here I am with Megan Riley and Riley Skinner.
Makena took her Disney Princess autograph book for everyone to sign. The football players found it entertaining. Two or three of them said it was a nice change of pace after signing posters and playing cards all day. Half of them called it a diary. They were in the book right behind Cinderella and Pooh Bear. Here is Boo Robinson signing the princess book.

Here we are going down the autograph line. They had all of the seniors sitting together.

What a great way to start the football season! Go Deacs!

Princess Dance Camp

Makena went to a Princess Dance Camp this week and absolutely loved it. But then again, she loves most anything "princess". She went everyday from 10-12 and had a performance on Friday that we were able to attend. They did ballet and tap, as well as crafts and games. This is Makena on her first day of camp....she was very excited!
Stretching...

I am so disappointed in my camera. I've only had it a year and I'm already having problems with it. Granted it wasn't the nicest, most expensive one on the market, but I still expect it to work. For the performance, they changed the little girls into shiny leotards and big, pouffy tutus. And Makena looked so cute! But all of the pictures I took during the show turned out terrible......blurry and full of orbs. So I'm now in the market for a new camera. Good news is that I was able to capture the performance on video. There was no way Phil was going to be able to get away from work and he really hated to miss this. Here is one of the bad pics from the performance...Makena is in the back wearing pigtails and a blue leotard.
Here is Makena after her performance. She did a great job! A lot of kids got stage fright and either teared up or froze up on stage (understandably so). But Makena kept smiling and waving and dancing like she was supposed to. She really enjoyed this camp!

Megan commandeered Makena's princess hat and magic wand after the show.

So what did Megan and I do while Makena was at camp this week? Well there were a couple of shopping trips and a fun trip to the Children's Museum.
She got special treatment at the grocery store. Two free cookies (hers and mine), a new Winnie the Pooh ball (75% off), and she got to ride the "Harry the Dragon" ride twice. The ride is a big deal because I usually never let them ride it. Little Megan was devastated when she realized she wasn't going to the Princess Dance Camp, so she needed the special treatment.

Potty's First Bath

I got some new bunny treats for potty and she absolutely loved them. But these yummy little treats turned out to be a total mess and made our pretty white bunny look yellow. So I bought some Squeaky Clean Critter Shampoo and gave Potty a bath. She looked like a drowned rat. I kept her wrapped up in a towel until she was completely dry because she kept shivering. Hopefully she won't need another bath for quite a while. Please excuse my appearance, I had just taken a shower and hadn't even combed my hair. :)

VBS

Our church had Vacation Bible School this week. The theme was Camp E.D.G.E. E.D.G.E is an acronym for Experience and Discover God Everywhere! This was Makena's first time participating in VBS and she really enjoyed it. I'm not sure how much she learned but she had a great time and looked forward to going to Bible School everyday. Megan spent all of her VBS time in the nursery with the exception of an hour or two. I made the mistake of sticking my head in the nursery one day and she spotted me and would not let me go. Luckily, we were nearing the end of the day and she did okay tagging along with our group. She really enjoyed singing and dancing with the big kids. I volunteered as a counselor for Makena's group. She told me that she liked me being her "teacher". Each of the groups had an animal name and Makena's group was called the Rabbits (which we loved since we are clearly a rabbit family now.) Here are some fun pics from our week at VBS.
