With a baby due in June we're thinking a summer vacation may not be in the cards for us this year. So we decided to take the kids down to Orlando for a few days of fun. We drove down again this time and didn't stay very long but we had a great time! We stopped and spent the night in Jacksonville on the way down. When we woke up the next day we finished the drive into Orlando and went straight to Sea World. The dolphin nursery was one of our first stops. The kids loved seeing the dolphins swim right up to them and stick their heads above water.
Even though it wore him out, Phil gave countless piggyback rides on this trip. I could have taken a picture like this any day during our trip. I was usually waddling behind them pushing an empty double stroller. :)
We were all excited to see Shamu and his friends! Makena really wanted to be in the splash zone.
The whales put on an amazing show. I tried to get pictures of them jumping out of the water but it happened so fast and the kids always needed something right about that time.
We also saw polar bears, beluga whales and walruses.
The kids won a couple of stuffed Shamu toys playing games. Here is Everett with his...
After Sea World we went and checked in to our hotel. We stayed at Disney's Saratoga Springs this time. We had a villa that had a bedroom with a king bed and a second bedroom with two queen beds. It had 2 full baths with a full kitchen and living area. We really enjoyed having so much room. Bedtime is much easier with separate bedrooms. We also had a washer and dryer in the room which came in handy. They left a new little box of laundry detergent each time they cleaned our room. The kids really wanted to go to the play in the pool so that's how we spent the rest of our day.
Makena was determined to learn to swim while we were in the pool. She's really close and was kind of doing it before we left.
Everett was absolutely fearless and would just keep going down the steps until his face was in the water. We would pull him out and he wouldn't be phased at all. He's already kicking his legs and tries to push away from us in the pool. This one is going to be trouble this summer.
More to come!
