Kindergarten is in full swing. Makena still enjoys it but now there are occasionally days when I get the feeling she thinks she's missing out on something here at home. We're looking forward to catching up on rest and family time during fall break later this month. Makena's teacher asked for the kids to wear red, white and blue for Constitution Day last month. Makena chose a fun ensemble that went well with the cute hats they made in class. I love the hats they make at school....so cute.
Phil and Makena have gotten involved with Adventure Guides which is a father/daughter group associated with the YMCA. They both wear these cool vests that Phil had to put together and they earn patches kind of like in girl scouts. Phil's schedule can still be hectic so I think it's nice for them to have some special time together. Megan should get to join in the fun next year. Here they are after going to their first meeting. Makena wanted to take her picture with our Fall decorations. Megan calls our little fall friends Crow People. :)
Everett likes the crow people, too. He's also started saying "cheese" for his pictures.
I love this drawing that Makena brought home from school. I love her phonetic spelling. She said she wants to be an artist when she grows up. :)
Last Saturday Makena participated in a one mile run at her school. Phil ran with her and Megan, Everett and I went to cheer them on. Here are Megan and Makena with Dree before the race.
Here they are stretching...
Coming around the home stretch...
The running buddies.
Makena was excited to get a ribbon after the race. She's keep it with her soccer and basketball trophies. :)
