Pledge Week, Megan's Special Day & Student of the Month

This past week was pledge week at Makena's school. Each day had a different theme and Makena really enjoyed it. Monday was crazy hat day. Makena chose to wear the crazy hairband she got at the fair.
Tuesday was crazy sock day but I forgot to take her picture. She wore her purple polka dot soccer socks. Wednesday was crazy hair day. Here's Makena acting crazy...
The back of her crazy hair...
Thursday was favorite college team day so Makena wore one of her Wake Forest shirts. They also invited the families to come eat with the kids that day. I got a sitter to watch Everett and took Megan to eat with her. I've had lunch with Makena a couple of times but this was Megan's first time. She was very excited!
After having lunch with Makena I took Megan to have her fingernails and toenails painted. She has been asking to have this done for a really long time. Makena wasn't really interested in having it done so we did it while she was still in school. Megan sat so still while they were painting her nails. She had a hard time deciding which color to pick.
One of the ladies cut a pair of the flip-flops they use for pedicures for Megan. She loved them! She has asked to wear them out to the store and other places since having her nails done.
Friday was school spirit day at Makena's school and she wore her school t-shirt. When she came home from school we found out that she had been given a special award. She had been named Student of the Month and had been given a special student of the month pencil. Each month they pick one student from each class. Her certificate says it's for consistently demonstrating good character, perseverance, courage, caring, self-discipline, respect, responsibility and integrity. They take a picture of the kids and put it on a bulletin board in the hallway so everyone can see it. Makena was very excited and has been telling everyone about it this weekend as have we. We are so proud of her! Way to go Makena!
