Today we went to see Sam the Dot Man. He is a treasured Winston-Salem folk artist whose art you'll find all over town. Sam has also been featured in Smithsonian magazine. When I was in his shop I saw pictures and letters from politicians. I'm sure all of my local friends remember seeing his artwork at the Children's Museum. Sam will put dots on anything and everything.

His shop is so colorful. Makena and Megan loved it! They kept telling me to look at this and look at that. They loved everything.
We didn't buy anything today. I am thinking about having Sam paint some stuff for the kids but am trying to decide what. Since Sam is so iconic to Winston-Salem I would love for them each to have something that they can keep and pass down to their children. Maybe I'll go ahead and get their Christmas gifts out of the way!
