3rd of July & Moving Out

When we got back to from the beach we had to get ready to move out of our house. I'll give you a timeline just so you will realize how fast this all went. The vascular picnic was on June 26, we went to the beach from the 27-30, we went to a party on 3rd of July, and the moving truck showed up on July 5th. On July 6th we left for Seattle....with three kids....on an airplane. We spent 5 days in Olympia and 1 day in Seattle. On July 12, we left Seattle for Orange County, California. We got back from the west coast on July 18 at 2:30AM. We're trying to get back on eastern time. Here is a look back at the annual Peace/Hudson 3rd of July party.

The moving trucks showed up on the 5th to move us out of Ardmore.
Of course, the move was bittersweet. This was the first house Phil and I had lived in together and it was the home we had brought all 3 kids home from the hospital to. Here are some things I'll miss about the house.

We named Makena the day we got married in Hawaii. We were married on Big Beach in a little town called Makena. She had to have a Hawaiian room!
Phil used a stencil to paint the border around her room.
I saw a picture in the magazine Land of Nod and Phil was nice enough to re-create it for Megan. He put the chair rail up and everything. I was pretty impressed at how much work Phil put into both of our girls' rooms. I made Megan's dragonfly valances.
I loved our front porch, although we didn't use it enough. It was perfect for our rainy day lemonade stand!
Phil and his buddies screened in the area under our deck. It was a pretty intense process which included a jack hammer.
We finished part of our basement. Our life was so much better once we added this room.
So long, Ardmore house!

Beaufort & Atlantic Beach Adventures

I have gotten pretty behind with my blogging. We have done many, many fun things since my last post. Bear with me as I try to catch up. The day after the vascular picnic we went to the beach with the other finishing fellow, Ross, and his wife Mary Anna. We stayed at my father-in-law's beach house and with our friends George and Lisal. We got here fairly late but had to go put our toes in the sand before we went to bed. This is Everett's first picture on the beach on Radio Island.
The next day we took everyone for a ride on the blue boat. All babies hate life jackets.
It was a pretty windy day so we just cruised up and down Front St. in Beaufort. Phil's dad grew up on Front St. What a gorgeous place to grow up!

He forgot his hat and had to buy one at a gas station. Great choice, don't you think?

We went out to Shackleford Banks on George's beautiful new boat, The Analgesic. He is a surgeon and his wife, Lisal, is a dentist and I think the name of the boat is perfect. The boat definitely does help make the pain go away. :) Here is Everett enjoying the beach on Shackleford Banks
We had a special treat while visiting Shackleford Banks! We were eating lunch on the beach when the wild horses walked up and started eating grass right behind us. It was so exciting! If you click on the pictures you can see them on the grass in the background.
Hooray again for Ross and Phil finishing their fellowship!! For Phil it was 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of med school, 5 years of general surgery, 1 research year and 2 years of fellowship. That is 16 years of education after high school! Incredible! There was only one other guy at Baptist who had been training longer than Phil.

We were able to meet up with Phil's cousin Ann Pryor and her kids in Morehead City before we left. Here are Charlotte and Preston. Aren't they cute?

Sleepover and the Vascular Picnic

We went to Phil's vascular department picnic this past Saturday. We were fortunate enough to have Phil's niece, Madison, watch the girls while we went to the picnic. Makena and Megan spent the night at Madison's house in Greensboro and Madison had her parents there for backup. The girls had a great time playing at Uncle Larry's house. I took a couple of pictures before we left the girls.
They love playing with Polly Pockets.
We took Everett with us to the picnic. The picnic was actually held at the clubhouse in our new neighborhood. Here are Phil and Ross getting their certificates from Dr. Hansen.
This pic is of Matt Edwards, Phil's attending and our new neighbor, presenting gifts to Phil and Ross.
Phil got WF golf balls and tees.
Tabby presented gifts to the guys from the OR staff.
They both got ipod docking stations and Phil got this awesome apron.
One of the physicians (& friend of Phil's) from the private practice group he will be joining was also at the picnic. He also had a gift for him. I got pretty excited when I saw a beautiful, blue Tiffany's box being pulled out of the bag. Unfortunately, Dr. Motew thought it would be funny to wrap Phil's new beeper and give it him as a gift. It was a bit of a let down. Phil had just given his beeper away! At least he won't need to answer it until August.
