Thomas the Train

Today we went to Day Out with Thomas at Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock.

Playing in the teepee.
They had a blast playing in the Thomas the Train bounce house!

Megan spotted the horses on the way in and started yelling, "Yeehaw!"
We take the girls to Tweetsie, where there is a ton of stuff to do, and this is where we end up....a grocery store ride!

Riding the Turnpike Cruisers.

Makena loves the Tilt-A-Whirl! She had to ride it the last time we went to Tweetsie, too. It made Daddy a little dizzy. :)
Makena on the Planes and Helicopters ride.
Megan loves carousels!
Makena got her face painted!
Makena and Megan loved the Deer Park!
Megan sampled the feed before and after she fed the animals. We're anticipating a messy diaper.
We ran into our friends Kaleb and Malik at Tweetsie! What a fun coincidence!
We almost took the bus instead of the chair lifts. I'm glad we took the chair lifts because when we were leaving, Makena said that was her favorite thing we did!
The fam with Sir Topham Hatt.
We let Makena and Megan pick out one thing from the gift shop. Megan picked out this awesome hat. Makena picked out a Thomas the Train take-along cereal and milk container.
Goodbye, Thomas! We had a great time with you today!

National Doughnut Day!

Friday, June 5th is National Doughnut Day! Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts were giving away free doughnuts today. And since Winston-Salem is the home of Krispy Kreme, of course that is where we went! The girls and I each got a doughnut and they were giving the kids some fun freebies. Makena and Megan got Krispy Kreme hats, buckets, shovels and bubbles. One of our local news crews was there filming so were DVRing the news to see if we see the girls! What a delicious way to start the day!

This is how we do it...

I was a little worried about giving Megan a bath while she has the cast. But, we've already gotten used to it. The first time she took a bath with the cast, we just used a bread bag and tape. I was worried that some of our grocery bags would have holes in them so I bought some cast covers at the medical supply store. They are just long plastic gloves made for adults. They have two straps that we use to secure it to her arm. We usually wrap her arm with a hand towel for an extra bit of protection. Megan often gets to wear one of these gloves at meal time, too (just without the hand towel underneath). Some foods are just too messy to let her eat them without covering up the cast.

Swimming & Butterflies

Makena started swimming lessons yesterday. She's taken them once before and enjoyed them so we thought we wound try it again. She had a great time!
Today we went to All-A-Flutter Butterfly Farm. Makena and Megan love this place! Megan waiting for the butterflies to come to her.
She had a butterfly on her head for about 5 minutes and didn't even know it.

The butterflies love blonde hair...
and tie-dye!
