St. Pat's Day & Swimming

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Hope you're wearing green! Makena and Megan are super excited about St. Pat's Day. Makena started looking for leprechauns and gold as soon as she woke up! She had a party at preschool today and Megan will have her party tomorrow.

Last year, I took a picture of the kids in the rocking chair together wearing their green. Everett was only a couple of weeks old in this picture.
What a difference a year makes! Look at them now!
He was such a tiny little man. The smallest of all my babies! Looking at him now you wouldn't believe he ever weighed 5 lb.
 Look at him now! :)
After preschool we met some friends at Chick-fil-a. They were serving green lemonade and green ice cream for St. Patrick's Day.
While the kids were at preschool a leprechaun came and made a mess at our breakfast table. (The leprechaun had to sneak and do this before the girls came inside.) And the water in our toilets had turned green! Megan told G-Dada that the leprechaun went potty and his pee pee was green. :)
Makena and Megan have been taking semi-private swim lessons for over a month now. They really enjoy it. We started them both in regular classes but it just wasn't going well for Makena. She was placed with a group of kids who were older than her and could already swim. They were jumping off the block on the first day and were pretty much just working on their form. Makena couldn't swim and would get scared watching the others in her group who could swim knowing she was going to be expected to do the same things. Rather than have her be terrified of the water, we switched the girls to semi-private lessons. They love their teacher, Miss Sara. She is really great with the girls. Miss Sara makes everything really fun and the girls enjoy being able to take lessons together. They're both learning a lot and Makena no longer gets a tummy ache when it's time to go to the pool.
The semi-private lessons are so worth it!
Makena has been swimming by herself when she wears her floaty belt. She also swims a little with it off, too, although she does get a little nervous. I think the floaty belt is kind of like a security blanket.
The only bad thing about doing semi-private lessons is that we have to do them before child care opens at the gym. So Everett gets to sit by the pool with me but he usually doesn't mind. Since there are only two of them their lessons only take 30 minutes. Everett likes to have a snack while he watches the girls swim.
Or sometimes we'll get lucky and Daddy will get off early and come play!
