Last Monday we got we had another bout of winter weather. And with the frigid temps, the roads weren't safe for days. The kids were out of preschool Monday through Thursday and had a delay on Friday. We had movie marathons, did arts and crafts, played games, barbies, dress up and everything else we could think of to keep ourselves busy. We also made edible snowmen. Megan made these at preschool and couldn't stop talking about it so I thought they would enjoy making them on one of our snow days.
I think they kind of looked like alien snowmen with those big raisin eyes. :)
Megan also re-kindled her love of baby dolls. Here she is with "Sally" and her diaper bag.
On Friday, we went to a clay class. Our friend Tiffany, had told us about Anja and her great art classes. The girls had a great time making their cupcakes and bowls. Mrs. Anja is so talented and very patient with the kids. We're looking forward to her next class!
While Phil was being tortured at the hospital all weekend (aka on call) I took the kids to the Fire Expo at the coliseum. We saw Sparky the fire dog but didn't get a picture with him. We did add to our firemen hat collection, got 2 new coloring books and a book about Smokey the Bear. Here is Makena putting out a fire...

We had just walked over the the helicopter when one of the guys told everyone to back up. They must have gotten a call because we got to watch them take off. It created a big gust of cold air so I was shielding little faces and didn't get a good picture. It was already pretty cold that day and Everett's little cheeks looked chapped afterwards. But it was nothing a little Aquaphor couldn't fix!
Poor Ev with the sun in his face because Megan had finally decided to take a picture.
We've also spent a lot of time celebrating January birthdays. We went to Star Wars party last weekend. There was quite a bit of thought put into the activities and games they played. Each kid made a mask (of a storm trooper...I think) and had a robe and light saber. They went through obstacle courses and tried to keep balloons up in the air with their light sabers. They also played red light saber, green light saber (instead of red light, green light). Here they are attacking Darth Vader at the end of the party.
Everyone trying to balance their balloons...
Here is Makena with Darth Vader. Megan likes pretty much all characters besides Darth Vader and any other Star Wars characters. She had zero interest in fighting him or taking a picture with him. And I quote, "I don't like Starf Board." :)
And here's Megan with all her friends in Makena's bench seat.
It's so wonderful to watch these beautiful babies grow into lovely children...fun, active, articulate...and OURS!
