New This Week...

We've started giving Everett a bath in the baby bathtub. It looks like he is trying to cover himself in this picture.
Aunt Carol sent EJ a box of goodies which included this adorable little robe. Phil and I have noticed that Everett really likes to flex his muscles. EJ also cried his first tears this week. I always thought babies looked so much more sad when they started crying tears.
Here he is sporting an cute Ralph Lauren romper we borrowed from some friends.
Here are Makena, Megan and Everett having tummy time together.
One of our little friends had a birthday party at the pool on Saturday. The girls had a great time!
This is Makena and her friend Ella under the waterfall. We went to Ella's 4th birthday party on Sunday.
Friday I went to Greensboro and High Point to look at granite for countertops in the new house. Of course, Phil was unable to go so he told me to make the decision on my own. It's nice that he trusts me, but it was a little stressful making the decision alone. This is the slab I chose for the kitchen. It's called African Ivory. Our cabinets are kind of off-white (technically they're Ivory with a Mocha glaze). I had one of the cabinet doors with me and I thought it looked really nice with it. I have a picture from Southern Living that I'm trying to replicate, right down to the door hardware.
The group that is installing our countertops has a lot of remnants that we have been looking at. Remnants are pieces of granite that are leftover from other jobs. Someone else has already paid for them and they'll let us have them for free. We will still have to pay them to cut and install the granite, but the materials are absolutely free. Since we're going to be able to save money on materials we're probably going to be using granite in some rooms that we weren't originally, like the laundry room and kids bathrooms. We'll probably use this reddish granite in the girl's buddy bath. It's called Bordeaux.
This will go in Everett's bathroom. It's called Blue Pearl.
We will probably end up using a remnant in the master bath. However, when I went to the granite warehouse I fell in love with this travertine countertop. I thought it would be perfect with our walnut colored cabinets. Unfortunately, travertine is a lot softer than granite so it would scratch and stain easier, even if we sealed it. Doesn't it look pretty though?
There was more action at the house this week. We have a fireplace now.
And the kids bathtubs were in!
This is the arched entryway to our shower.
And this arch will be over the bathtub. We're trying to decide if we should add columns on either side. They would start on either side of the arch and go down to the tub deck. What do you think?
